The Mt St George harvest is one of Tobago’s traditional village thanksgivings, opening the island’s long harvest season in early March. A harvest combines a church service with an open village meal, and functions as a homecoming: families return, homes are prepared, and the community gathers to give thanks and to eat. Expect Tobago staples such as crab and dumpling, curried goat, stewed pork, ground provisions and sweetbread, usually shared freely with donations welcome. Visitors are genuinely welcome and need no invitation. Modest dress and an early arrival are appreciated.
