Carnival Safety Tips

As Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival is in full swing, we all enjoy the season in some way or the other. From masquerading to the music shows to heading to the beach and for some just being home for the long weekend. In all fun, remember always to safeguard yourself and property. Here are some safety tips.

  • Always wear minimal jewellery.
  • Travelling in groups to and from activities is safer. Safety in numbers
  • Don’t display large amounts of money.
  • Avoid having wallets visible to others.
  • Do not accept drinks from strangers
  • Don’t leave drinks unattended.
  • Use sunscreen and a hat to protect you from the sun.
  • Keep hydrated.
  • Limit the amount of cash you carry around
  • Bottled drinks are to be opened in your presence.
  • Have a designated an alcohol-free driver or pre-arrange transport.
  • Ensure children remain with you
  • Have their ID with name of parent/guardian contact number.
  • Carry a cellphone for an emergency with critical numbers on speed dial.
  • Secure your premises.
  • Set the alarm in your house.
  • Please don’t leave keys in mailboxes or under doormats.
  • Be observant when returning home, especially at night

Obey the laws, follow traffic signs regarding parking and driving in the capital city. Be observant of your surrounding and the people around.
