Richmond Great House is a Colonial Plantation Structure, built on a hilltop with a panoramic view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was called a Great House primarily because it was one of the biggest houses in the country as compared to the settler houses. It is one of the oldest surviving plantation houses in Tobago.

Tobago's Eastern region encompasses the island's windward coast and northeast communities from Roxborough to Charlotteville, representing Tobago's premier eco-tourism and nature destination. The region combines world-class diving at Speyside, bird sanctuaries at Little Tobago, remote beaches, and authentic fishing villages. Communities throughout the region provide eco-lodges, dive services, nature guides, and local restaurants serving visitors seeking natural experiences beyond resort tourism. The region benefits from marine protected areas, forest reserves, and community commitment to sustainable tourism. Tobago Eastern continues to attract eco-conscious travellers while supporting traditional livelihoods and environmental conservation, maintaining authentic character while providing quality nature-based tourism services and experiences.
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is the southernmost island in the Caribbean archipelago. Located just off the north-eastern coast of the South America mainland, the twin island Republic is home to international greats such as Miss Universe 1998, Wendy Fitzwilliam; Cricket Legend, Brian Charles Lara; and Carnival, the Greatest Show on Earth. The larger of the two islands, Trinidad, has a boot-like shape, measures 37 miles (80km) by 50 miles (60 km), and is noted for having an ecological and geographical diversity that is unmatched in the region.
The capital city, Port of Spain, is the business centre of the Caribbean, housing the headquarters for a number of local businesses, a myriad of restaurants and nightlife entertainment like no other. The sister isle of Tobago is a stark contrast to Trinidad. Considerably smaller in size, Tobago is well-known for its coral reefs, pristine blue waters and white sandy beaches, the smaller island is perfect for leisure activities and an immersive experience with nature. An abundance of natural reserves in oil and natural gas has made significant contributions to the strength of the Trinidad & Tobago economy—making it one of the strongest economies in the region.

1 Review on “Richmond Great House, Roxborough, Trinidad and Tobago”
It’s a very old house, perhaps if not the oldest one I saw on T & T and it is built in the colonial style. It made me feel like Scarlet O’Hara on her modern day plantation with a huge garden and a pool. Truly lovely place. I accidentally ended visiting this place, and fell in love instantly.
