The Tobago Blue Food Festival is one of the island’s signature food events, held every October at the Bloody Bay Recreation Grounds on the north coast. Blue food is dasheen, a taro root that turns shades of blue and indigo when cooked, and the festival celebrates it in every form, from savoury dishes to desserts and drinks. Started in 1997 at nearby L’Anse Fourmi, it has grown into one of the best regarded food festivals in the Caribbean. Expect a full day of local cooking, culture and crowds. Arrive early.
