The whole complex is surrounded by the gate and it feels safe. I stayed here with 3 friends and we occupied two bedrooms. Another group of friends occupied remaining two with outside entrances. If you want nice and cozy rooms for a reasonable price, Gingerbread House is highly recommended.

It was a nice stay with a group of my girl friends and business colleagues. Clean and calm house.

The room was extremely hot, with just one old fan. I understand that this is a colonial house, but you must ensure that your guests feel good, and not like they are going to have a heat stroke. A lot of mosquitoes. Weak internet signal and you mush bring your own computer. I stayed only during the carnival for $100 a night. It is okay if you don’t have to spend much time inside.

Okay, but nothing special. I’ve stayed in better lodges for less money.

Everything was fine for the first two nights and then Ben (if i remember his name well!) became greedy, he kept asking for more money or he will throw us out. We ended up finding another lodge on the third day, this one was dirty and the carpet spelled really bad. I don’t want to discourage you from renting, because it doesn’t have to happen to everyone, but this is just my experience.

Location

Port of Spain, officially the City of Port of Spain (also stylized Port-of-Spain), is the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago and the country's second-largest city after San Fernando and the third largest municipality after Chaguanas and San Fernando. The city has a municipal population of 37,074 (2011 census), an urban population of over 80,000 and visitors/workers of over 250,000.

The city serves primarily as a retail and administrative centre and it has been the capital of the island since 1757. It is also an important financial services centre for the Caribbean and is home of many banks.

The Port of Spain was founded near the site of the Amerindian fishing village of Cumucurapo ("place of the silk cotton trees"), located in the area today known as Mucurapo, west of the city centre. In 1560, a Spanish garrison was posted near the foot of the Laventille Hills, which today form the city's eastern boundary.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is the southernmost island in the Caribbean archipelago. Located just off the north-eastern coast of the South America mainland, the twin island Republic is home to international greats such as Miss Universe 1998, Wendy Fitzwilliam; Cricket Legend, Brian Charles Lara; and Carnival, the Greatest Show on Earth. The larger of the two islands, Trinidad, has a boot-like shape, measures 37 miles (80km) by 50 miles (60 km), and is noted for having an ecological and geographical diversity that is unmatched in the region.

The capital city, Port of Spain, is the business centre of the Caribbean, housing the headquarters for a number of local businesses, a myriad of restaurants and nightlife entertainment like no other. The sister isle of Tobago is a stark contrast to Trinidad. Considerably smaller in size, Tobago is well-known for its coral reefs, pristine blue waters and white sandy beaches, the smaller island is perfect for leisure activities and an immersive experience with nature. An abundance of natural reserves in oil and natural gas has made significant contributions to the strength of the Trinidad & Tobago economy—making it one of the strongest economies in the region.
