Covid-19 – The New Normal in Trinidad and Tobago

Covid-19 has brought lives and economies around the world to a stop for months. As most countries try to recover and get to a place of normalcy, we all have to adapt to what’s called the new normal.

This global pandemic made its way around the world, grounding planes, closing borders, shutting down counties, economies and taking lives on the way. What is the new normal?

As countries ease into the opening of business and interactions, this new normal must be practised. The new normal is a new way of living and going about our daily lives. This new normal may be around for a long time, as there is no cure unless a vaccine is found or if a herd immunity develops towards it.

Covid-19 is highly contagious and infectious and is not associated with any individual lifestyles. Therefore, a high level of adaptation and change has to be made in our lives. The new normal will keep changing and may change quickly. For now our new normal maybe:-

  • Wearing face a mask outside all the time.
  • Working from home and virtual meetings.
  • Schools may be online or smaller classes.
  • Sanitation and cleaning everywhere and very often.
  • Social distancing by keeping two (2) metres from everyone.
  • Temperature checks.
  • If any in-house dining, it will be in small numbers.
  • Live concerts and sports would be broadcast only or cancelled indefinitely.

As we adapt to our new lives, remember, we are on this earth together and only together can we overcome this pandemic.

2020 will be a year to talk about for some time to come.

Stay safe Trinidad and Tobago!
